Whether curating art work for a boutique hotel or supporting grass-roots projects and organising local pop ups, I love to tell a story. My career is sprinkled with self initiated projects, collaborations and Art & Design exhibitions. As curator of The Red Door Gallery, I source all works and project manage the broad range of on and off site events.
I am inspired by working with a diverse range of folk including Scottish DIY record labels, cult designers and Turner prize winning artists. Through my experiences as a guest lecturer at Scottish Art Schools, I value watching students tentatively start their own personal story, exploring styles and stretching their creative imaginations. I often work with emerging or established artists, designers and companies simultaneously. One of my most privileged relationships is with The National Museum of Scotland where I contribute to the award winning Lates Events, showcasing new, vibrant art and design work. I have recently completed work on Edinburgh’s Dunstane Houses where I curated all art and books in response to an interior redesign by Hannah Lohan.
I live and work in Edinburgh, where I share a home with my partner Kevin, our playful, grey cat Lulubell and our extensive collection of records, books, art, synthesizers and slide viewers. The cute (and flattering) portrait showing in my profile, was painted at a recent event by the talented Viktorija Semjonova AKA And Smile. The original copy sits on my living room bookcase, next to our family photos and a dramatic view over the Firth of Forth and beyond to Fife.
